Event description: 
This session is a collaboration with the Race Before 1800 Working Group around the topic of “Classics, Race, and Resistance”. We will be discussing the following readings: John Levi Barnard’s “Phillis Wheatley and the Affairs of State” and Dan-el Padilla-Peralta’s “Anti-Race: Anti-Racism, Whiteness, and the Classical Imagination”.
