You are warmly invited to join the American Classicisms Working Group on Thursday, April 17th from 2:30-4pm at the Beinecke Library for its final event of the semester, a discussion on the subject of “Medea and the Harlem Renaissance: Countée Cullen Reimagines Euripides.” Beinecke curator Julia Hernandez will lead an object viewing session and discussion about the writing and production of Cullen’s adaptation of the Medea. This event will take place on Thursday, April 17, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at the Beinecke.
Participants will get to view and handle photographs and objects related to its original production and a revival at Howard University that are housed in the Beinecke Library. No preparation is required, but participants are asked to sign up at this link. Some short optional readings will also be precirculated via email to those who sign up.
