Jacob is a doctoral student in the combined program in Classics and History. His primary interests lie in the literature of Late Antiquity, focusing especially on historiography and patristics. More specifically, he is interested in the interplay between Christian and classical “pagan” texts and the construction of cultural, political, and personal identities in the 4th and 5th centuries.
Prior to coming to Yale, Jacob received his BA in History from UCLA with a minor in Anthropology, writing his Honors Thesis on the collapse of the province of Britannia at the end of the fourth century. Following this, he received his MA in Classics from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
