Lizzie (Elizabeth) Davis is a PhD candidate on the Classics track of the Classics and Philosophy joint program. Covering a wide variety of Stoic authors, her dissertation research examines practical deliberation and appropriate action in Stoic ethics, and how an agent’s features affect which actions they should perform. Her wider interests are centered around Roman and Hellenistic philosophy, and questions of ethics, moral psychology and epistemology.

Before coming to Yale, she completed her BA in Classics at St John’s College, Oxford.

She is currently one of the co-organisers of the Yale Working Group in Ancient Philosophy (WGAP), and has previously served as the Classics Undergraduate Liaison Officer and Classics Works in Progress group organiser. Feel free to get in touch with her via email at lizzie.davis@yale.edu.
