Lester Stephens, ‘15

Lester Stephens joined the Classics program in 2015 following completion of an MA in Classics at the University of Notre Dame.

Previously, he attended the Post-Baccalaureate Program in Classics at UC Davis after graduating summa cum laude from Westminster College as a political science major.

Lester’s research interests are eclectic, comprising Greek tragedy and lyric poetry, Roman history and rhetoric, as well as the ancient novel and Hellenistic poetry. The focus of his recent scholarly research encompasses the Roman empire, education, and rhetoric. He wrote his MA thesis on Tacitus’ Dialogus, specifically the ways in which the use of language and structure in the text reflect the mechanics of Roman declamation.
